Did You Know

Holiday meats typically cook for several hours. Since it’s a long, slow cook, there is no need to preheat your oven, even when the recipe suggests it. Unless you are baking breads or pastries, preheating may be unnecessary. Once the oven is going, resist the urge to open the door, which can drop the inside temperature by as much as 25º F. Instead, turn on the oven light to check the cooking status through the oven window. Also, cook several items at the same time. With an electric oven, you can turn the heat off several minutes before the food is fully cooked. As long as the oven door remains closed, the oven will remain hot enough to finish cooking your meal.

All of us at Canby Utility wish you a New Year that's happy and bright!
