Trimming trees to avoid potential outages is important to ensure reliability. We trim trees near power lines year-round. We also hire contract tree crews to handle more complicated tree trimming every two years. Occasionally, trees are located where neither Canby Utility nor its tree contractors can reach with their equipment. This is why Canby Utility recently reached out to Forest Grove Light & Power for assistance. They generously allowed our line crew to use their transmission line truck that has an arm capable of reaching a height of 105 feet. We used it to clean up limbs and trim trees along the feeder wire that crosses the Molalla River where there was significant tree damage caused by last year’s ice storm.
While we hope to never see that kind of storm again, we are confident that we have minimized the potential for severe weather outages in those areas. We want to give a big “Thank You” to Forest Grove Light & Power for their generous assistance and partnership!
