One by one, your neighbors and local businesses have voluntarily chosen to purchase our Green Power and support the development of renewable, non-polluting energy in the Pacific Northwest. You can make that choice today. Our Green Power, also known as “environmentally preferred power,” comes from the Bonneville Power Administration’s (BPA) wind projects located in Oregon and Washington.
The program provides you with an easy way to help increase investments in wind and other environmentally friendly technologies. BPA will use roughly two-thirds of the proceeds from the sale of Green Power to support research, development, and demonstration of new renewable energy technologies and applications in our region. The remaining one-third of the funds goes to the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), a non-profit entity in Portland, Oregon. The goal of the BPA program is to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels for the generation of power.
It's Less Expensive Than You Might Think
You may purchase Green Power in increments of 100 kWh blocks per month. Each 100 kWh block will increase your monthly bill by only 92 cents—a small price to pay for helping the environment.
The additional cost of Green Power is only $.0092 cents per kWh above our standard per-kWh energy rate. This slight addition covers our extra cost in buying the service from BPA.
