Job Description
Utility Worker I position is an entry-level water worker position that requires a Water Distribution (WD) Level 1 Certification within 18 months of hire, a valid Oregon Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to self-obtain one within six months of hire and the CDL permit within six weeks (may be extended due to new CDL rules), and any combination of education and experience required of a Level 1 certification. Previous experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of underground utility infrastructure preferred; however, on the job training is provided.

Utility Worker II position is a mid-level water worker position that requires a Water Distribution Level 2 Certification upon hire, Cross Connection Specialist Certification within six months of hire, competent person trained, heavy equipment experience, in addition to the requirements of a Utility Worker I.

Benefits Information
Canby Utility offers an excellent benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for the employee and family. Canby Utility pays 95% of the employee and family medical, dental, and vision premium costs. Oregon PERS/Public Service Retirement Plan (OPSRP) employer with the employee's mandatory 6% contribution being paid for by the utility. Monthly contributions to the employee’s HRA-VEBA account for medical-related expenses, a 401(k) and 457 deferred compensation plan (voluntary participation), Employee Assistance Program, and additional voluntary supplemental benefit options. Canby Utility offers 10 paid holidays plus 1.5 floating personal days. Paid sick leave consists of 12 days per year, or one day per month, after 90 days of employment. One week of vacation at six months and another week at one year. Benefits are outlined in the Canby Utility collective bargaining agreement with IBEW Local 125.
